Why isn't your bands name here?

The level of success you achieve truly depends on your definition of the word. If you go by the interpretation that the members of WILL HAVEN live by, then this Sacramento, CA-based 4-piece is among the most successful bands ever to rock a crowd. “All we wanted to do was make records that inspired people… records they enjoyed,” says guitarist and principal songwriter, Jeff Irwin. “We got to play shows with our friends The Deftones, Soulfly, Slipknot and so many other bands that we admired,” he continued “and we have been around the world. We don’t need to sell a million records to feel successful – we just need to move people with our music and have our music endure.”
The story of will haven began in the summer of 1995 in Sacramento, CA. Four childhood best friends, Grady Avenell, Jeff Irwin, Mike Martin and Wayne Morse came together in the living room of a house with an idea to show the world something new. The music came together very quickly and the band were able to record a six song demo tape then play shows up and down the west coast gaining a widespread, loyal following.
Soon after the touring, the band compiled seven more songs to comprise their first CD - a self titled debut. After a few months and a handful of shows the band was signed to respected hardcore/indie label, Revelation Records. The band was now set to reach a wider audience and was hard at work writing material for their first full length album. Their next ten songs would bring the band world recognition and critical acclaim. The resulting, now classic record, EL DIABOLO, was released in the spring of 1997.
In the summer of 1997 WILL HAVEN was now a full time touring band. Best friends and Sacramento natives the Deftones had taken the band on full US and European tours. After captivating audiences all over the globe the band was asked to open for such bands as Limp Bizkit and Beastie Boys.
The band got back to work in the summer of 1999 with their release WHVN. This was a major accomplishment and was now generating press from all over the world. WILL HAVEN was also asked to support such bands as Slipknot, Fear Factory and Soulfly during that touring cycle. This set up for another classic release CARPE DIEM. While in the process of writing the record the band had to replace founding drummer, Wayne Morse. Mitch Wheeler joined shortly after and brought a new dynamic to the band. After the release of this record the band was now headlining venues in the US and Europe.
After a noted hiatus from the hard rock world that sorely missed the band, they regrouped and set off for a co-headlining tour with Crowbar in the UK. Not losing a step, the band was selling out venues and gaining even more of a fanbase. Shortly after returning home the band had signed with Florida-based indie label, Bieler Bros. Records. The label – home of rockers ranging from Nonpoint to Skindred – gave the band what they needed in the way of creative freedom and at the same time offered them the major distribution and marketing that promise to take the project to new heights.
With a re-engergized and creative outlook the band went back into the studio with longtime friends and collaborators, Deftones frontman Chino Moreno and producer Shaun Lopez (Deftones, Far) to create the highly anticipated album HEIROPHANT. Those who have heard the new material are predicting this recording will change heavy music as we know it. A big reason for this groundbreaking sound is the addition of frontman Jeff Jaworski, of the respected punk band, Red Tape, who joined the band to replace original vocalist, Grady Avenell. Avenell recently left the group amicably to be home and focus on family and Jaworski was the natural choice to replace him, as “he has been in the ‘family’ for so long,” according to Irwin.
The band is now set to tour Europe in the Spring and the US in the summer with The Deftones and will also appearing on major international festivals in the summer.
With a new album, new energy, and a label squarely behind them the band is ready to give fans of music something they have never experienced before……open your ears, your mind and hold on to your seats!!!
